Parents whose children need ear tubes have an option that avoids the operating room experience with Tula, a system for in-office ear tube placement.1

With Tula, ear tubes are done differently. There is NO general anesthesia, NO pre-procedure fasting and, because it’s done right in the clinic, you can stay with your child throughout the entire procedure.

Tula is FDA-approved for patients 6 months and older,1  and the entire Tula Tube procedure takes approximately 35 minutes from start to finish.2

Here’s how it works:

Your doctor begins by placing the TULA ear set on your child’s ear.

Next, your doctor fills the ear canal with a numbing medicine that has similar ingredients to the numbing medicine used in dental procedures.

The device is turned on and generates a gentle electrical current. This helps the numbing medication work quickly. Your child may feel a sensation we call “the bubble bath” for their ear.

The numbing process takes about 10 minutes. During this time, your child can sit with you, watch a video, or even have a snack.

After the numbing process is finished, the doctor releases the medication from the ear and removes the Tula ear set. Your doctor will make sure that the ear drum is numb before continuing.

Finally, your doctor uses the TULA insertion device to quickly make a tiny opening in the ear drum and insert the tube, all with a single click.
